Seven Year Story Outline
Here’s a basic idea of what I think should happen with the story…at least with the beginning of it. I’m pointing out a few ways to take it, but I’m sure the story will take us where it wants to go.
~~Meet two main characters: Clara and Sacho. Learn through two mysterious gentlemen-- The Warden and Victor--that there is something special about both Clara and Sacho. Introduce basics of their situation.
~~Their situation: Sacho and Clara are two of twelve super-beings. They were born thousands of years ago, put into a state of stasis (perhaps after a tremendous war, or because of the coming future, or to save humankind during The Flood, or some equally crazy reason.) For whatever reason, the twelve don’t remember who they are when they first wake-up, but some of them are remembering now, after years of amnesia. Clara and Sacho have not yet begun to remember, and so their guardians (The Warden and Victor) are goading them to hurry along the process, and realize their true power.
~~Their true powers can keep being discovered as the story progresses.
~~The situation they’re in, and some ideas about 2012 are expositioned.
~~The twelve super-beings know (or learn) that they must each seek out their jewel. None know where they might find their jewel, only that they must, and that they must do something to ‘activate’ it on December 21st, 2012. (Maybe later we determine that the jewel was with them the whole time, and it was the seven-year process of self-discovery that activates their jewel. We could put it in their frontal lobes or something.)
~~There are ‘sides’ involved in the developing situation. Clara and Sacho will each choose an alignment. (I’m not sure we want to get too “good and evil”, maybe explore the grayness of the situation through each character’s perspective—like, Clara may seem to be more on the side of ‘good’, while Sacho leans toward the ‘bad’ side, but let’s not make them entirely saintly or demonically evil. All the twelve have their reasons for choosing sides— though at this point I have no idea what those reasons are, or what constitutes a ‘side’. In fact, we’ll have to invent an entire back-story dealing with why there ARE sides.
~~Our main characters begin their quests to fulfill their strange destinies, as they learn who they are, why they’re here, and other mysterious mysteries that we decide to add.
~~New characters and situations are developed. (We can explore all twelve of the super-people.)
~~Well after our characters decide who’s side they play for, Clara and Sacho should meet, and either fall in love or hate each other. We can have plenty of action, tension, and revelation—working them together and against each other.
~~We weave characters and their stories with the back-story of how the world came to be the way it is, and where it’s headed. We create alternate histories for the Earth, explore history’s mysteries and archeological postulations, and tell some great human stories along the way.
And that’s about all of the outline I think I should present. Other than to say that I’ve already begun the story with thick symbolism and quirky tricks I like to use to say things between lines. Please do that as much as you’d like. (example: Clara means “clear”--- I thought we might use her for the clearest view of the situation….Sacho Ublest is an anagram for Subtle Chaos…and then there’s the whole self-exploration theme, the metaphysical meanderings about the end of the world, secret societies, social commentary on the trials and tribulations of both waitstaff and psychics….you get my drift.)
Write on!
